Christian Democracy UK Launches Campaign to Reinstate Watchorn Church’s YouTube Channel

Christian Democracy UK has launched a national campaign demanding that Google reverse its suspension of Watchorn Church’s YouTube account, following the removal of videos documenting real-world violence and expressions of grief by the evangelical church based in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

The channel was reportedly suspended after sharing footage of Pastor Ryan Clarke being punched while street preaching—a disturbing incident that highlights the growing hostility faced by Christians exercising their right to public witness. Another video, mourning the assassination of American commentator Charlie Kirk, may also have contributed to the suspension.

“This is not just about one church—it’s about the freedom of religious communities to speak truthfully about the world around them,” said Max Stenner, the Chair of Christian Democracy UK. “Watchorn Church was targeted not for hate speech or misinformation, but for documenting violence against its pastor and expressing sorrow over a tragic death. These are acts of transparency and compassion, not violations.”

Watchorn Church has long been a pillar of evangelical outreach in Derbyshire, known for its street preaching and community engagement. The suspension of its YouTube channel has cut off a vital avenue for ministry and public communication.

Christian Democracy UK is calling on supporters of free speech, religious liberty, and digital fairness to sign the petition demanding Google reinstate the channel immediately. The petition is available online and has already begun to gain traction among faith communities and civil liberties advocates.
